«Don’t Leave Your Planet»
based on the story by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry “The Little Prince”
THE PERFORMANCE FEATURES
The fantasy performance “Don’t Leave Your Planet” based on the story by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry is not an attempt to “transfer to the novel to the stage”. This is, first of all, a visual and music FANTASY on the theme of “The Little Prince”.
All roles in the play are performed by Konstantin Khabensky, who shares the stage with Moscow Soloists Chamber Ensemble and Maestro Yuri Bashmet at the conductor’s stand. The play “Don’t Leave Your Planet” is structured in such a way that the musicians, along with the artist, exist in it as equal narrators of the story of the Pilot and the Prince.
Konstantin Khabensky and Yuri Bashmet mutually became the authors of this concept which could have remained at the level of idea if the theatre director Viktor Kramer had not been involved in its realization. He invented the entire performance — he combined four aspects, acting as a director, author of a literary composition, set designer and costume designer. The musical score of the performance was created by composer Kuzma Bodrov; in addition to his original music, the performance will feature fragments of works by Johannes Brahms and Gustav Mahler arranged by Bodrov. The Moscow Sovremennik Theater became a full partner in the creation of the play, on whose stage the production ran for six years. In 2022, the performance was included in the repertoire of the Chekhov Moscow Art Theatre.
The performance premiered as part of the Winter International Arts Festival in Sochi in 2016.
